Idle problem who can help
I have 92 305 TBI camaro that has started surging at idle and dies It doesnt do it all the time.Injectors are spraying a nice cone pattern.I have a new IAC and reset it to make sure idle was set correct.Checked the coil and wires and cap and button. Fuel pressure is 12lbs Car doesn't miss and have checked vaccum and I am making between 19 and 20hg when its not surging. When the idle surges the rpms go up to about 1k and drop down to 500 rpms and back up to 750 and then cuts off. You can start it back up fine sometimes it doesnt do it anymore and sometimes it does.I have looked for pinched wires or shorted wires and can't find any.Could the distribator mod or pick up coil be going bad causing this? The distribator is really rusty inside.

the pcv valves from the head cover to the throttle body will cause this, it can be pluged, just buy a new one for like 5 $ then u can rule that out, if that dont fix it, mine had that problem you described and that fixed it

5/32 hose coming from egr valve to vac source gets old, soft and pinched. Try cleaning egr piston with solvent, WHEN ITS COOL, then put a little anti sieze on it.

Its not a vaccum hose problem , pvc, egr valve or the solenoid. I have checked all of this stuff every thing checks out. I have checked all the basic stuff. The distribator is really rusty inside I have been wondering if this could cause this?

im not seeing how it would cause a surge, but i know that could mess with your spark plugs. If the electricity cant flow properly it'll just bounce around and not go where it needs to. I'd suggest fixing that rusted distributor and see if it helps
