Heater Fan Not working
Heater Fan Not working
Alright, I have an 84 camaro with a heater fan issue, oringinally it was a A/C car but I put in a NON A/C box with a brand new GM NON A/C fan and now the fan won't turn on at all, with the car on I have no power going to the purple wire going to the fan and the black ground wire coming from the relay is grounded properly, does anyone have ideas what might be the problem.
Thanks

have you checked the fuse? there has to be power to the purple wire.as a way to test fan run a test wire from +term. on batt.to post purple wire plugs into fan should work,be sure to turn fan on inside car.later jimmy

Re: Heater Fan Not working
When you got the NON A/C box did it have the Blower resistor in it or did you get the one from your A/C box and put it in? What about the blower motor high speed relay?
The reason I ask is that in the 82 Camaro wiring diagrams the A/C blower motor circuit is different that the NON A/C blower motor circuit. The A/C blower motor circuit has 4 speeds for the fan, the NON A/C unit only has three speeds.
Take a look at these two links, they will have the wiring diagrams.
For the NON A/C unit

For the A/C unit

(does not show the blower motor or Blower Motor High Speed Realy, I will have to scan that in tomorrow evening)
If the new NON A/C box came with the blower resistor in it and you put the A/C blower resistor connector on it then it is likely that the the pink wire does not have power as you state. It is not connected to anything. (a four terminal connector on a three terminal resistor, see the differences in the wiring diagrams in the links above). If this is the case, you might want to replace the blower resistor that came with the NON A/C box with the one in the A/C box that you removed.
If you had to remove the blower resistor from your A/C box and install it in the NON A/C box, I would take it out and make sure you did not damage it. If the connection is broken to the terminal that the PURPLE wire connects to you will not get power to the blower motor.
A few photos or a sketch or two of what you installed would be helpful, so we can understand what you wiring looks like.
And also check the fuse as 1fastam suggests.

Re: Heater Fan Not working
Yes, I too swapped out my A/C on my '83 Z-28. Put in the A/C delete box and now I don't have high fan speed.....Do any of you guys have a picture of the blower resistor connector wiring? My connector got messed up and the wires got cut....does anyone have an extra resistor and connector they could sell me? Thanks.....( my lt. blue wire is unconnected right now...I had the with A/C connector with 5 wires! )
