Could I reach 13's..
With ported stock 187s? (Plus everything else, Chip/Cam/intake/etcetcetc.)
(I really do not want this car past the 13's,(Whoops edit: mid-high 13's.) so I do not really care for anything beyond that point, so please keep this in mind.)
I know I can pick up some 081's for under a 100 or so from my local JY (Calling them tomorrow morning.. hopefully.) But I would like to know if I took the time to port the 187's could I possibly reach the 13's with them? I have read just a couple of the porting threads, but not extensively. This would mostly be for the "Hey, I got into 13's with L03 heads." than anything else. Plus I like trying to use stock parts as far as I can.

Check on the TBI forum. I know a few people have done it, usually with 350 cubes though. It's not... *easy* I don't think, otherwise everyone would have already done it.

well, i doubt you'll get anyone at your local JY to pick up the phone tomorrow *since it's CHRISTMAS* and all.
i can't tell you what the 187's will do, but my experience with my 416's (identical to 081's but with older style intake bolt angles and perimeter valve covers) is VERY good. i've been 12.66 with the stock 1.84/1.5 valve combo. just some simple bowl blending and a backcut on the valves. i'm upgrading to stainless steel valves with a 1.94 intake valve and doing more port work, along with a solid cam...11's here i come!

Don't worry, I am not looking for easy/cheap.
Effort and time are what will be going into this project, as I want to most out of it.
Yes, I checked a few posts by Fast355 about getting 280 RWHP by going with a very nice cam (LT4 HOT cam comes to my mind, maybe some others?) I actually felt pretty stupid after posting and thinking about how I didn't even post a setup to go with it, Hah.
And yeah, I called and they said call back wednesday haha. Whoops, Guess I ment that day, didn't notice it was 2am. They said call back wednesday anyway so.
Yes, I wouldn't mind a pair of 081's, I am hoping my JY doesn't over price me though. Every time I go out there and try to be very polite and have specifics before asking for what I need (ocd about stuff I guess..) but I always get the "holyier than though because your a stupid kid whos tearing his car up." attitude. And I always get told how great they are from most of my local auto part stores and etc's. Sigh, I guess I will just be persistant and make them sick of seeing me so much that have to like me haha.
Thats at least what I am trying to do here, haha.

Would ported 081's, headers+2.5inch duals, 1.6 rollers, and a few other
goodies be too much for the stock chip? I really don't want to screw myself and give this car too much get-go as I rebuild the 305 that I can't get it around the block to do some tuning.

the stock chip doesn't like even a gutted cat and catback...i'd imagine it'll HATE everything else you menioned.

idk maybe try a 305 TPI chip or 350 TBI/TPI chip with those mods, it may run better
but yeah probly will have to do some tuning stuff.
As you can see by several members on this board, the 305 can be made pretty quick with cam swap and supporting mods

EXACTLY, There is no reason to waste a perfectly good 305 when it is for street usage mainly.
I will most likely buy a Chip burner and extra chips then find a BIN of something near mine and go with this.
