Best Cam for 85 TPI
What is the best size cam in your opinion for an 85 Iroc with a 305 TPI that is all stock? Car is somewhat of a daily driver. I am looking to get some more power out of it so that i will be able to notice a difference while driving around town.

A camshaft should be the last of your mods when you're starting with a stock car. What else have you done to it? I suggest a cat-back exhaust, subframe connectors, lower control arms and panhard rod, a new aftermarket catalytic converter, headers, and intake manifold before you even think about a camshaft swap.

How about them? Has anybody ever put any of these ones in their cars before?

Re: Best Cam for 85 TPI
Out of those four you listed, get the last one with 114 LSA. 110 LSA is for carb cars. Our fuel injected cars are happier with 112 or higher LSA.
The ones grumpy listed are for roller blocks and your 85 came with a flat tappet block.
Also remember with a camshaft swap you will probably need a custom chip burned. An off-the-shelf one like from Hypertech does nothing to change the idle or driving areas where you need the most help.

How much would the chip cost to be burned, how do you go about burning one, and what would happen if i left the stock chip in it after upgrading the cam?

Re: Best Cam for 85 TPI
Check with Ed at http://www.fastchip.com/ for a custom chip, see the tech article on this site and in the DIY PROM board to learn how to create your own, and if you left the stock chip in and if the computer couldnt handle the cam, it will probably run very rich, and idle poorly.
