Hi, I don't have a third gen, but my 21ft motor house has the same engine and it's in trouble so I was hoping some of You would be willing to give me some pointers.

BTW, I stumbled on this board after I bought it and researched about the engine and found great info on a PROMinator which would allow me to be able to switch to a "cruise mode" on highway to save gas.

When I bought it there were black drops and smoke from the exhaust and smelled like the mixture was heavy. Not much smoke, but black. Check engine light was on. I used the paper clip test before I bought it and found that the O2 sensor was bad. The previous owner said engine was rebuilt recently due to water in engine. It ran fine for about 50-60 miles.

I put stabil gas additive cause I knew it's going to be sitting and ran it for a while after adding that to the tank.

Then it started surging the next time I started it. It stopped surging after a while when it wormed up. It was sitting for a while, then I moved it to a new parking/storage spot. Surged at first then we moved it 10 miles or so.

Then when I was parking it in it started cutting out and not reving when I press the gas pedal.

I changed the O2 sensor, but that didn't fix it.

Now it has trouble starting. It takes a few tries to start it and when it starts It doesn't rev when I pres the gas pedal. It would turn on and stutter for a while not responding to the pressing and letting go of the gas pedal and then just cuts of after a while.

The owner said I should change the fuel filter and that's my best guess right now.
