NEED Help!!!!!!!! 383 problems.

Ok here's the deal I gave my 383 rotating assembly and block to another machine shop who has once again screwed me over. Now the shortblock is all put together and makes a clicking noise somewhere around the last pin. I am running into alot of problems with this motor and/or parts and now I don't have any compident machine shops arund my area that don't bend me over and take me for a ride. I gave this guy a kit to put together and a block that was already cleared and asked him to put it together for me within two weeks. He told me yeah sure thats easy, I have waited a month and a half just to see that I am in the same spot I was before I gave him the motor but now I'm $443 poorer. So would anyone happen to know of anything that could be causing that clicking noise because besides that everything seems fine.

Chase it down. Turn it over manually until you hear it. Look. Turn it backwards till you hear it. Look. You'll find it.
It would also be a good idea to re-torque everything. I don't trust anyone but myself (usually). The shop may have forgotten to fully torque a main or rod cap.

ok I turned it over and over after bolting everything down to Tq spec and the only noise I can hear is like a pucker noise. So is that ok or normal?

Start taking pistons one by one until you isolate which rod-piston combo is making that noise. It could be anything - time to get oil on your hands.

Re: NEED Help!!!!!!!! 383 problems.

About an hour or so from tampa. I work at napa and my boss said I can send the crank down to get checked by the machinist there to see if it might be bent or something. Hopefully it isn't and the noise we are hearing is just because of the assembly lube. If not then I want to send this crank back to summit and get a new one that isn't messed up. See as how I paid over $1800 for this assembly.
