Computer-Controlled Camshaft

If I put this cam in my engine (305 TPI) will any computer modifications have to be done?
Im looking for a cam that will give me a little more performance. The car is going to be somewhat of a daily driver and the engine is all stock. How does this cam sound? Wht kind of performance gains can I expect?

Re: Computer-Controlled Camshaft

Its a mild cam and will probably work. But a camshaft swap is not something to do first on a stock engine. You need to replace the exhaust, catalytic converter, headers, intake, etc first.

Agreed. Seconded. Whatever. You need to optimize the systems that are already there, before delving into the internals. Otherwise, you will see very little benefit for your money.

To fully take advantage of the cam, you will need headers, a free-flow cat (or, no cat, depending on where you are..) a Good catback exhaust. And that is just the exhaust side.

On the intake, I would do things like port the plenum/runners/intake, throttle-body air foil, adjustable fuel pressure regulator, (while you are in there....) and anything else you can do to increase air flow.

Having an extra set of intake parts to work on, while you can still drive the car is a plus.....

Re: Computer-Controlled Camshaft

I do plan on also putting a set of hooker shortie headers and a high flow cat on the car.
Could I still use the stock valve springs with that cam or would I have to buy a different set since the lift is bigger?

If the springs are the stock ones from 1985, I highly advise replacing them at the same time you swap the cam. You need to replace the valve stem seals too, to eliminate the puff of smoke on startup, if you're getting that.
