What is wrong with my car.
Ok my problem is sometimes when I start my car the idle serges up to 1500 rpm and back down to where it almost kills the engine. Its died on me on 2 seperate occasions. It does this for about 45 seconds then idles back to normal. When it starts to do it I usually press on the gas to keep it running and it stutters a bit until she clears her throat. I have no check engine light and it seems to run strong after I take off. Its a stock 305 with 88,000 miles on it. Would a tuneup help or is it maybe the IAC Valve? Any help would be great. Thanks

kinda my problem, except some of the time i got to pres my gas down to start mine, and hold it for a few, or else it will not start, (305 TBI) im thinking IAC on mine also

Whats really weird though is it only seems to do it if I drive some where then turn it off then come back out and start it up 30 minutes later. It never seems to do it in the morning when its cold after it set overnight.
