I've finally gotten the car back to "it's maybe gonna run" stage, but there's like oil leaking from the oil pan or something.. I understand why because it's a crappy gasket and I need to replace it before i drive it around, but why does the oil that's leaking smell like gas?

 

Is there any history? Is this a recent rebuild?

 

Oil smells like gas = your fuel pump is TOAST

Change it NOW, RIGHT THIS MINUTE, before your car goes up in a fireball. Change your oil at the same time. Don't smoke or burn incense or anything anywhere near your car.

 

Oh crap! I better stop that pot party **ahem** tobacco.... Oh well, it isn't going to be ready for the road any time soon, but I'll be sure not to play with it until I get a new one. thanks.
