Head to your local magazine store and pick up a copy of "Chevy High Performance" magazine, or better yet get a subscription. Every month there's articles for novices. Check out their website too, http://www.chevyhiperformance.com

For more background on building peformance Chevy engines, have a look at:
http://www.amazon.com/John-Lingenfel...2545403&sr=8-5
http://www.amazon.com/Build-Performa...2545403&sr=8-2
http://www.amazon.com/Small-Block-Ch...2545403&sr=8-9
http://www.amazon.com/Chevrolet-Powe...2545687&sr=1-1

When it comes time to actually start building, either of these will show you what to do:
http://www.amazon.com/Rebuild-Small-...2545403&sr=8-4
http://www.amazon.com/How-Rebuild-Yo...2545403&sr=8-1

Then when you've got specific questions, it'll be easier to come back and get informed answers when we're all on the same page.

Re: Advancing and Retarding?

guys guys guys!!!!

we all know that we are going to have differing opinions about the subject material that is disscussed on this site

we have to make a choice before we post

a-is this helping anyone
b-does this person that started the tread worth our time and effort
c-does someone else, with a real problem deserve out attention

our cars are too bad A$$ to argue points that are not making the thirdgen the best cars on the road

when all is said and done I dont agree with alot of things that are said and done- its human

the hard part is keepin my mouth shut and movin on

Re: Advancing and Retarding?

Im sure there are newbies interested in engine building that are reading the thread and learning a lot.

Balancing cost, power, and practicality is something everyone should be exposed to.
