Twin Turbo GTA or AFR/cammed GTA??

Hi guys, I asked this question in the power adders forum, but in the name of objectivity I'm also posting here. Maybe not all of you guys are interested in power adders and i want feedback from everybody. I just got some $$$, and was giviing a thought at a twin turbo system I'm seeing at ebay. The thing is, that for about the same money I could either install set of AFR Street Eliminators 195 and a CompCams stick or the twin turbo setup (limited at 7psi for budget limitations). The thing is, what should I do? The heads/cam swap would be pretty easy and straight forward while the TT will be a PITA. Both setups would yield about the same amount of horsepower (with the 7psi limit). The TTs would have more potential for the future, though. I don't have the $$$ to make the engine hold more than 7psi for now, but there's still the potential. Please list pros and cons for the setups like reliability, chance for an engine failure, budget, performance, installation....etc. I'll appreciate it guys. Also if there's anyone out there with turbos please I would like to hear your experience.

the general opinion here is that the ebay twin turbo kits, the ones for 800-1000bux, are crap and not worth wasting money on.

If you want turbos, and can afford to do it right, by all means do it! power adders are always cool. A procharger is another option, and does not require a total custom exhaust.

I'd stay with the naturally aspirated option.
For me, it's a no-brainer. I've been around so many people that have gone both routes. The blower/turbo ones have been very expensive very disappointing experiences in 90% of the cases, whereas only about 20% of the NA cases had some level of disappointment, but still a LOT less expensive!
If you are a skilled fabricator and an expert forced induction tuner, FI could be for you; if not, stay away from it.
For me, unless it's top level class racing, blowers/turbos have nothing going for them except for the "wow" factor. I'll take a good NA motor in a street car anyday. For the track, a 150-shot on top of it will leave FI setups behind in performance, simplicity, and reliability.

Re: Twin Turbo GTA or AFR/cammed GTA??

in my opinion spray isn't even an option it's just not there all the time so it is stupid, i have not seen anyone actually purchase the ebay tt kit but it appears that the headers are decent with thick flanges and 2mm side wall tubing but the 4-1 collector will cause some turbulence which is bad for spooling up a turbo. the intercooler looks wimpy and restrictive the intake piping couldn't make much of a difference I would go with 2.5" piping but it doesn't say the turbos are bearing though which is a good thing but they look cheep.

with those heads you are going to want a cam that pushes the rpm up a bit and with the power it will be making you'll need bottom end stuff at least arp fasteners for the girdle and connecting rods arp head bolts would be a good idea also and i wouldn't push it past 6000rpm till you get some forged components personally in your position I would go N/A I think i just convinced my self too
