I was just wondering what the difference between a rubber gasket and one with a steel core would be. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

A rubber gasket is just a floppy piece of rubber that slides around when you try to put it on, and is easy to overtorque. A steel core gasket has a steel shim to stiffen it so it holds its shape and resists overtorquing.

moral of the story: dont be cheap and just drop the extra 5-10 bucks for the metal core lol saves you alot of trouble in the end
