How to repair fuel line

It seems like I have a small hole in one of my metal fuel lines. I started my car up today and after a minute or some smoke started coming out from the engine bay. I shut the car off and could hear a sizzling noise. Took me a little to find it but I saw one of the metal fuel lines was touching the header collector area. So I took a long screwdriver and seperated them and the sizzling stoped so that was the problem.

So I am assuming I have a small hole in the line. Is there any way I can repair it with something like JB weld? I don't think anybody sells a replacement line, probably discontinued. Also I was wondering if its the supply or return line. I read in a search that the larger line is the supply and the smaller one is the return. Is that true? The line that is touching the header is the smaller of the two, the line on the left in these pics.

Here is a pic of how the lines come off the fuel pump.

I fixed a pinhole in a motorcycle gas tank with JB weld once, and it worked fine. This is from the FAQ on the JB-Weld website:

"When fully cured, J-B Weld is completely resistant to water, gasoline, and about every other petroleum product or automotive chemical."

You would be nuts to epoxy a fuel line. Go back down the line till you have clearance then cut it and double flare it. Then connect it to new fuel line and keep it off the header tubes.

Re: How to repair fuel line

Ok I got the line repaired. My brother brought up a good point about how this happened in the first place. My car is 25 years old. He was saying maybe the motor mount is wore out which caused the header to get close to the lines. I have had these headers on for over 4 years with no problems till last week. Think that could be the case?

Re: How to repair fuel line

Zrated83: I have an 87 Formula with a 305, mechanical fuel pump and an Edelbrock Performer 600. I am replacing the fuel pump with a new one and want to replace the fuel line from it to the carb. I want to use steel braided hose like you did (I've used it before, a long time ago). I got the fuel pump, it's just a $20 pump from AutoZone. It looks like the one you have in the picture above. But I'm not sure what fittings to get? I want to use a fitting like you have between your pump and braided line, the blue and red piece. But I don't know which one to get. What size is the threading from the pump? Can you, or anyone tell me what to use? When I go to Jegs there are a few like it but there are different sizes. Also would I use something else to connect to my carb? Or just use a hose clamp to clamp it onto the fitting that came on the carb?

Thanks
