I own an 89 gta with the vats system, The car has an intermintant starting problem, no matter if its hot or cold, any one have any advise or input.

 

You might want to explain your problem more in depth for us. Is it a vats problem where the car wont crank or anything or is it more engine related? If it's engine related you might want to post this in the tpi forum for some help, if not you could do a search on vats and see what it brings up. Good luck with a fix.

Thanks for your reply, to explain more in depth, the problem is a no crank issue. when i turn the ignition on everything has power, stereo, lights, ect. the engine wont crank. whats strange is i can use the car for a week or better with no problem, other times it does it 2 or 3 times a day. for instance i can drive to a store, come out and the car wont start. wait 15to 20 mins and it will start. other times ive had to leave the car over night because it wouldnt start. another example is the first thing in the morning, with the car in the garage it wont start. thats what i mean when i say it doesnt matter hot or cold. also, one particular instance when it wouldnt crank i got under the vehicle and jumped the starter to solonoid with the key in the run position. the engine cranked but wouldnt start. this is why I am thinking the issue is with the security system.
