Is this a deal?

I looked at buying a 92 Z-28 with 110000 miles. It has LB9, Auto, rear drum, and cloth interior. The body was complete but needs a lot of work like new paint and some damage repaired. The interior was stained but complete and the glass was good and the airbag appeared good. The owner had trouble starting and stated he had been trying to fix it the past couple of days. The engine bay looked bad and the car ran extremely rough. There are new tires but they are 225's instead of the 245's.
Is this car worth 800 at least in parts? I offered 600 and he said no. I know it is hard to say with out seeing pics but I am going to get some tomorrow
Thanks
shawn

Does it run well? If it does, then I'd say it's worth $800. But you'll likely spend more fixing it than you would pay for a better one. But then fixing it is part of the fun of owning it.

Re: Is this a deal?

The seller called back and said he would take 600, so I bought it. I discovered the fuel pump
was changed through the famous hole in the floor. I also found out that he ran speaker wire from the
ECM to the fuel pump and simply twisted wires together with out any tape or connectors!
Several bundles of wires have also been cut in the engine bay. This is not worth putting
on the road so I will be parting out.

Hey! I had to do that once when I was in high school. Some $%^& thought it would be funny to cut and remove a section of my fuel pump wiring on my 88 Blazer. I was late for work so I spliced in a section of my speaker wire to get to work. Of course, I fixed it as soon as I got home.

Even with the issues you described, as frustrating as that is, it seems that it would be worth saving.. Just my

Re: Is this a deal?

I just gave it a good look over and the body is pretty much rust free. The engine harness has been
butchered and the body needs a lot of work. I am kind of torn on this one. I would like to keep it
but the wife wants me to take what I need and sell the rest.
