Broken ring....
Now I did it.
Broke my 2nd compression ring on #7 piston while compressing the rings to install it...now my build is at a stop.
Now what do I do? It's not like it was a cheap set of Enginetech rings - these are Total seal Gapless. All gapped for the blower I just got the other day.
At least the second ring is a standard compression ring, the top one is the gapless one.
-So can I buy one ring? This has to have happened to someone else before...

Re: Broken ring....
Maybe you are lucky and the ring broke on installion due to a defect. This is a much better time for the ring to break.
How was the right expanded to go around the piston? Maybe you stressed the thing and cracked it.
In the past I have screwed up rings and couldn't buy individual rings. You might try calling Total Seal to see what is available. Chances are that you can't buy just one ring, and I wouldn't use an odd ring on one cylinder. The rings will have been designed and tested together as a package. Maybe another second ring will work just as well, maybe it will screw with the top ring a little and cause that cylinder to leak.

You usually can't buy just one ring; but at least you can generally get a single cyl set. I don't know about Total Seal though, never had to try to get one out of them like that.
Just call em in the morning and see what they have available.
