stuck distributor

I'm trying to remove the dizzy on my 1990 3.1 EFI. I have removed the clamp and the hold down bolt and I physically tried to pull the dizzy out, but with no success. What am I doing wrong?

Re: stuck distributor

Can you twist it? They're sticky sometimes on those 60* V6 engines. Had a tough time getting mine out the first time. Also- replace the O-ring seal that seals the shaft to the intake once you get it out- they harden and leak after many years in service.

Re: stuck distributor

i put the dizzy button back on and that gave me leverage to rotate the rotor while pulling the dizzy out and it came out. i was taking it out to replace the .99 cent o-ring for the first time. thanks
