fuel filter

changed my fuel filter today and after i got everything hooked up and bolted back together my car hissing from the filter and like steam smoke is coming out also its leaking fuel from the left side. What could be my problem? I thought it was tight because my pliers slip off when I try to tighten it. Any help would be great but im taking it to my mechanic in the morning anyway?
Thanks Guyz in advance

wow. Man, I dont know that you should be working on cars. Really. You can kill yourself even driving a car that is spraying gas. you dont use pliers on a fuel filter. Wrenches. The right ones, 2 of them. On the filter you will notice what looks like a nut on the outlet and inlet. You put one wrench there. Then on the fuel line there is a fitting. Put the other one there. Turn until tight and not leaking. I like to use a little pipe tape. A lot of poeple dont, some swear it wont work on fuel lines. I've been doing it a long time, and never had one leak.

Re: fuel filter

Just to keep the score even.

One day riding my HD down the road, I looked down and saw Gas dripping on the hot exhaust pipe. That gives real meaning to flaming and rocketing down the street. Float was stuck at 55 mph, not good. Shut gas off and waited for gas to stop dripping. Then waited for gas to evaporate, hoping it would all be gone when bike died. It was a good day.

Everybody has a story tell, some just haven't yet.

Ive posted some good ones. Recently I told the BBC Lifting story, long one, but funny. Although, the first post here about hissing and steam. Thats bad. Thats not tell your friends later funny, thats remove yourself from the human gene pool funny.
