confused on base timing

confused on base timing

i've read on here to unplug 4 wire plug by dizzy,then i've heard to unhook est wire when warm, then cold. after all that, set it to 0' to 5 degree advanced ? so what is the true way?

Unhook the EST wire. Its a brown wire with a black stripe, and located toward the passenger side of the car; by the blower motor. It should stick out from the main loom going to the ECM.
I think the base timing is 0* for TBI cars.
Doesn't matter if the engine is cold or warm, AFAIK.
