vacuum troubles

vacuum troubles

My cam robs vacuum and the engine will die if i sit at idle with my foot on the brake. Will a vacuum canister help?

No but it will help your brakes.

Raise the idle till it keeps running then retune the idle, fuel and timing, till it will idle slower. Probably it is loading up (too rich) while idling. Retard timing at idle to slow it down.

Or switch to a stick shift.

Real race engines idle at 3000 rpm.

A good tune and checking over vacuum lines might help. If you have a bigger cam it may be to much for the street.
