ok so obviously by the lack of posts im new! I finaly got a thirdgen that i had been wanting since i was a kid and now its time to put some magic to it! Fortunately I found a cherry 85 Iroc 305 tbi with 86k that was garaged and taken care of by the second owner who bought it in 87! thing is in completely shocking condition so im stoked, however before I can start even gettin to working on this thing im trying to figure out exactly which engine I have, from my understanding there are 4 for my year????

How can i find out exactly which one i have? maybe by vin on some search?? i couldnt find anything......all the help is appreciated srry i do motorcycles not cars so this is new to me please excuse the stupidity hahahahaha

 

well process of elimination... there was no TBI offered for 85 so you either have confused tbi with TPI or you are unaware that you are looking at a 4 barrel carb.... so my guess is that you have the LB9

 

my badd tpi i had hella spelling errors in there.....so the LB9 is the 85 305 TPI

 

call any chevy dealer with the last 8 digets they will tell u every thing about ur car for motor wise and just about any ting els, or look at title and go to murrays and buy hayns book and that will tell every thang about ur car

 

Check the vin. An "H" car is an LG4, a "G" car an L69 (both are carbed). If it isn't either, it's an LB9.
