tbi heads question

I have a 91 305tbi. I know they suck but how bad are these heads really? Is anything that can be done to them that would be worth while or is it just a waste of time?

Re: tbi heads question

They will make flow that keeps the power band at a table top level to about 5000, then thats it, no real power but it is constant.

Re: tbi heads question

187's will support around 300 hp ported. They're really not as bad as people in the past have put them.

Re: tbi heads question

Ok. I have never ported a set of heads before. How difficult is it and is there anywhere I can find out how to do it with out ruining them?

Re: tbi heads question

Honestly, those heads are harder to port than most due to the swirl design, i say you should do some study work on porting for a bit, then geind on a set of junk heads and go from there with the opinion of a experienced porter to give you tips, it takes several hours to port a set of V8 heads alhough aluminum will go quicker it is easier to take too much, but aluminum can atleast be fixed. So, do plenty of research first off, learn what all the different things to do are(short side, long side, blowl blending) and then practice you self till you become decent, you will also need to find a good set of tools.

Re: tbi heads question

Thanks for the advise. I was just doing some read on porting. Dang there is a whole lot more involved than I thought. Thanks again.
