can you test your cts? coolent temp sensor?

i had an over heating problem because the fan failed and coolent steamed out of the coolent over flow tank

i replaced the fan car starts ok slightly high idle and i can smell it running alil rich

it could be many things but can i use an ohm meter to test my coolent temp sensor for the ecm?

and if so if i get a certain ohm reading is there a chart to tell me what it means as in temp value?

i replaced the cts last year but im just afraif it may of gotten ruined when the car over heated.

any suggestions?
