Isn't the ZZ4 a non vortec one? It's something like 375HP or so, with 113 heads isn't it?

Re: can someone point me in the right direction
Pace performance says ZZ4 is vortec head engine
as far as how much I am willing to spend money is no object. But I do know what these things cost so reference any of the crate engines you could find at scoggins or pace and thats the going rate.
I want one that will work for me.

http://www.sdparts.com/catalog/crate...ZZ4Engine.aspx - I'm almost certain this is 113 heads. They say aluminum, and I doubt they mean aluminum vortecs. Call them to double check, but i'm fairly sure on that.

You can't be searching that hard eh? Search for crate engine on jegs or summit too, in order to compare prices. Ohio crankshaft might also do crate motors.

Re: can someone point me in the right direction
sonix,
Just got off the phone with Pace and you are correct! They are not vortecs.
But. . .they still dont have what I want. I need heads that are dual bolt pattern for the valve covers and I prefer cast heads over aluminum.
my search continues
I will check out some of the links you sent me
thank you
jeff

I assume you're trying to save your TPI base.
Fast Burn heads are pretty hard to beat. By the time you spend the $'s for standard pattern heads that flow as well, you'll have spent as much as it would take to dress up a Vortec base.

Re: can someone point me in the right direction
BECAUSE...I just spent 6000.00 for this engine it has never been on the road has about 2 hrs run time in my shop and a bearing went!
I want something with a warranty and something I wont have to pull again just after I install it.
I had the engine built by a local reputable shop who recently went out of business and left me hanging.
