engine shaking and strong gas odor from exhaust
for the past couple weeks, my 1987 firebird formula has been idling very roughly, and lately I've noticed a strong gas smell coming from the exhaust when the car is started. I just had the entire lower half of my engine replaced, and I took the car into the shop and the mechanic told me two of my fuel injectors were shot. He gave me a $544 estimate. Just wondering what other peoples opinions are on this problem?

p.s.- sad thing is...theres not even 60,000 original miles on the car and its been burning a hole in my wallet since i bought the car 8 months ago

check your ignition components too. If you have a plug that is not firing because of a bad wire or something like that, it would guarantee that you will be dumping fuel in your exhaust.
Injectors you could probably replace yourself. I don't think that it should be that difficult of a job.
