'91 Z28 LB9 TPI low speed trouble
Okay, bear with me, but I'm tired of searching so I thought I would just ask.
I just bought the car and love it, but there is some quirky issues with idling.
It seems like once the engine warms up to normal temperature, the idle goes to hell. It will surge at times up to 1000 rpm then back to normal. Ocassionally, it will stall when slowing down, like coasting through a corner or on an off-ramp and when shifting into R or from R to D. It also seems like it is flooding out when I take off from a stop and hit the gas, it will hesitate and then pick up speed. I also sometimes smell raw gas, but not sure where it is coming from and there are no leaks that I can find.
I know the car has sat for months before buying it, could the throttle body just need a good cleaning? Any ideas where to start? I'm new to this motor and need some guidance.

Absolutely, as well as the IAC. Clean them both (instructions in Haynes manual and here) and get back to us. SES light coming on? Also adjust the idle stop screw and calibrate the TPS after cleaning.

I'm having the same issues with my fiance's '87 IROC. I replaced the IAC, MAF sensor and MAF relay, still having the same problems. I made this post tonight also concerning it:
Ok so I put the IAC sensor on, a new MAF sensor, and a new MAF burnoff relay and i took it out for a test drive and it seemed great. TOok it home, walked away for 10 minutes and came back, it started right up again with no problems.
Then 2 hours later I go to drive it and it starts but the check engine light comes on immediately, and it was idling really rough, like it was misfiring or something. I drove it up the street and it died while I was sitting at a stop sign. It wouldn't start back up for me for about 3 minutes, finally I got it to fire back up and the check engine light never came back on when I turned the car back on. As I'm driving home I go to take a corner and the light comes back on again and the car surges really badly, like it was going to die right as soon as the light turned on. It only lasted for a second and I managed to get it to a shop where it sits right now.
I'm really running out of ideas here...
