Cleaning the MAF element

What chemical / procedure are you guys using to clean the MAF element? In the newer throttle bodies, I clean with plastic safe TB cleaner, but the MAF unit on the '86 is as you know remotely mounted and a different device. I'd hate to hurt my old parts...

CRC makes a spray called "mass air flow sensor cleaner" Buy a can and follow the destructions.
