Just registerd today but need some help I have an 85 IROC that has a 350 motor and a roller cam and roller rockers and timing gears the question is after I installed a brand new accell distributor my father and I were out "test" driving to make sure everything was right and about the time I grabbed second gear there was an awfull chattering sound so we took it home wich was only like a block but the thing that gets me is that I never lost oil presure on the gauge wich is aftermaket no smoke just the chatter. So we took the valve covers off guess what no oil to the heads so my dad seems to think that the oil pump pickup has fallen off and the top end is not getting oil
keep in mind that I draind the oil and did not find metal shavings or anything unusual car will start and has great oil presure but its just that chattering soulds like lots of sewing machines one other thing do u guys think I can get the oil pan off without taking the motor out of the car?

 

if it "just" started after you installed the dizzy, i would be willing to bet its a problem with the dizzy. Is it in all the way? properly engaged to the pump drive? did it come loose when you got on it and popped out? i would check that first, maybe install the old one and see what happens

 

I forgot to tell everyone that I drove the car 45 miles to my dads house and the car ran just fine the whole way there and I got on it a couple times in between also after I got to my dads house he and i drove around several times adjusting the timing as we went
