I put a 79 350 in my 91 bird. i want to put a whole vortec setup from a 96 or newer truck, including the computer manifold and injection. im not sure what complications i will have, and was also wondering if the higher compression i would get from running 305 vortec heads would be good? also i was told when I bought the motor that i put in my car that it had a mild cam. anyone with some input (who inputs it...) is appreciated

I was also wondering if it would better to just simply put the vortec motor in my car instead of sapping the top end? My motor is out of a 79 z28, possibly has a mild cam, Edlebrock performer intake with a 650 Holley. I have no idea what the horsepower is though and heard that a newer vortec comes with 255 hp.

you think i would get better hp out of the whole vortec motor then? It would probably be easier to do it that also then i guess huh?

probably. and you should be able to score a complete vortec 350 with trans out of a truck for a song. you could probably pop a cam in it and have a good running car. (with a tune)
keeping the computer controlled engine and trans is the way to go if your up to the task.
