Help,. car wont start, no fuel getting in
Help,. car wont start, no fuel getting in
i was driving in the city and my 92 camaro just died on me. i popped the hood to check the injectors and i saw that no fuel was squirting into the manifold. I think it may be the in-tank fuel pump because i knocked on the tank and fuel started flowing. Now, the car just wont start at all. Is that pump the problem? If not, then what is it?

Sounds like the pump to me, try disconnecting the fuel line from the tbi or tpi whichever you have and aim the line to a gas can, turn the ignition on without starting and see if fuel flows thru the line. Could be low pressure from the fuel pump also especially if you have TPI.

ok i will try that. if the pump is the problem, what is the best way of replacing it . i already have a high performance high flow pump, now how do i get the tank out?

Re: Help,. car wont start, no fuel getting in
I have a 1991 Z28 and it just died one day in a parking lot. It acted like it wasn't getting gas to the engine. I found out that one of my injectors was bad and according to some stuff floating around, this car will shut the fuel system down when one injector dies. I have had two go out within a day, I finally just put 8 new ones in. It also made it run cleaner, passes emissions!
Hope I could help... Let me know if you have any questions...

ok guys thansk for the help and i ended up installing a high performance fuel pump. Now my guage is way passed full and i think its the little measuring thingin the tank. you think it may have gotten stuck on something??
Re: Help,. car wont start, no fuel getting in
ye the motor runs strong and that fuel pump is great. Now i just got to figure out my fuel reading problem. I will take out the tank again and re-install the pump with the measuring device so that should fix this situatuion
