Does my 5.0L have a fuel pump lobe to drive a mechanical fuel pump
Does my 5.0L have a fuel pump lobe to drive a mechanical fuel pump
I'm doing an engine swap between a 85 El Camino and a 1990 camaro. The El camino has a GM 350 crate motor, the camaro has the stock 305 with TBI code E. The TBI is going on the 350 and staying in the camaro, the 305 is going in the el camino with a carb. My question is, does the 305 stock cam have a fuel pump lobe to drive a mechanical fuel pump rod or do I need to use an electric in-line pump.
Another question I have is about switching the distribtors. The 305 is a roller cam the 350 is not. Do I have to swap the distributor drive gears. Which cam uses bronze and which uses iron.
Thanks for your help.

edit
Your cam should have a fuel lobe. My L98 roller cam has one

I didn't get the impression a cam swap between the engines was being planned.
You don't need to worry about the cam gears. They are both steel, neither bronze, and both fine with the cam they will be running on.
