So I have three problems/ideas going on with my '86 305 TPI and I want some advice as to which may be causing my starting problem. The motor starts just fine when warm, even less than 100 degrees but when I first start it for the day or after about 8 hours of not running, it takes a while to turn over and when it does, I have to give it gas for a good 20-30 seconds before it holds it's own idle. Then when I drive it after a cold start, it feels like it lacking power. After about a minute of driving it and it warms up, everything is perfectly normal. Here are my ideas, tell me if you think any of them is my problem:

- TPS, it's brand new but I can't get it adjusted correctly and it is still throwing a code 22. The light goes away when I accelerate usually and comes on when braking (throttle closes).

- 02 Sensor, it's welded on to only one of the cylinders of my headers and very close to the block... I need to move it, I know.

- Engine Temp Sensor, it's never been replaced and I've heard it could be the problem???

I have brand new fuel injectors, new fuel filter, new disty cap, get tune-ups done regularly, the pump buzzes as soon as I turn the key to on. I also have a brand new IAC and cleaned the throttle body out... Help please.

 

i had those symptoms on my taurus...cured it with a new IAC.

 

Anyone else?
