Fuel pressure not holding?
When I give a constant throttle input (depress to accellerate to 4k rpms and hold, for example) the rpms slowly drop off (definitely not me moving my foot, it will go from 4k down to 600). To me this probably means fuel pressure is dropping off (i also have no power). Does this sound right? Is it more likely that it would be the pump or the fuel pressure regulator? I'm waiting on a friend of a friend for a gauge to see exactly what is happening.
If i give it more gas as it is dropping off it will revive, and I can keep the engine running above idle(at idle it hunts 100-300 rpm) indefinitely by playing with the throttle.
My guess is that the fuel pump's pumping ability is good (if i put the key in and start it up without waiting longer than a few seconds it starts up fine), but some valve either in the fpr or pump is letting the pressure back into the tank.
Are there any diagnostic methods that can help me determine if it is the fpr or the pump? I really don't want to replace the pump if i dont have to.

Re: Fuel pressure not holding?
aww boo. I'm not really expecting THE answer, just clues. Like what exactly to look for when I have gauge in hand, so I dont have to go back and forth 3 times before I know what I'm even looking for. Oh well, I'll take what I can get

Whens the last time you did the filter?
That's a $12 part you can do in an hr or so.
