ok this past winter i had pulled my motor to fix a few probs. all new gaskets and bearings were installed. I had cleaned the ports on the heads i also installed a 6al box to replace the 6a. i put in a start/ retard box, new plugs, wires and a nos kit. I am running a holley blue pump and a mallory 3 port return style afpr with a 600cfm edelbrock carb. the nos kit is a plate kit.

now my car idles ok but starts to break up about 1500rpm and really falls down at 3k. i had tried to adjust my mallory afpr but i cannot get it to go lower than 9 psi. also i have tried to adjust the timing but it did not help the breaking up of the car.

i have adjusted the valves and tried the timing. i am not sure what else to do. any suggestions would be great. thanks

 

also i have noticed. but this always has been like this. i would set the timing with a gun and it would run poorly. if i used a vaccum gauge i could set it ad run soo much better. but the timing mark is WAY off the mark. the mark is at about 12 o'clock or so.

 

any ideas i am ready to push it into the road
