no advance or retard at dissy
i finally got his car timed (i thought) but after awhile it started giving little pops out the exhaust ! thought maybe i had it a little out of time, to my surprise when i tried to adjust timing -again. moving the dissy either way didn't change anything -this time! ,i mean it didn't idle up or down could this be esc or the dissy module? or something else? $3,500 - $4,000 in this car and 2yrs later and i've yet to drive it.
Re: no advance or retard at dissy
Are you actually using a timing gun on it? It's pretty much impossible for twisting the distributor NOT to change the timing. The pickup is attached to the body of the distributor and when you move the distributor the pickup moves with it- timing MUST change.
The ECM controls idle speed so if you make a change that slightly raises or lower the idle becuase of the timing change the ECM will just adjust it back to the same idle speed again.

Re: no advance or retard at dissy
when you move the dissy with a gun on the balancer the timing does not move
if the timing does not move on the gun after moving the dissy 5 deg get to the timing chain
if the timing does not move on the gun after moving the dissy 5 deg get to the timing chain
