there were two numbers on the passenger side deck surface at the front of the engine. i have looked at mortec.com for like an hour and cant figure them out.

the smaller number is 13B0484491

the larger number is T1220CK1

i have no idea whatsoever.

You're looking in the wrong spot. Casting date is on the block behind the driver side head.

according to mortec... "indicates the position of the ENGINE ASSEMBLY DATE/SUFFIX CODE and partial VIN code information on the front of the block. "

Yes... assembly date... not casting date. Casting date is on the block behind the driver side head.

Someone can. I never bother with the stampings since they contain next to no useful information.

Re: need help identify casting date on current block.

13B0484491 = last numbers in the vehicle's VIN number. There are 17 digits in the VIN and the 10th digit is the year code. That means B is the year code. B = 1981. Are you sure it's a B?

T1220CK1 is the suffix code and I doubt the last digit is a 1.

T = Tonawanda engine plant
1220 = Dec 20
CK1 = ?

I can't find any CKx suffix codes for a 1981 engine and too many CKx numbers are used for many different sized engine. You'll need a casting number to narrow it down.

after looking closer, it would appear that the B is an 8, and the 1 is an L

L380484491

so that would be a 78 350, i am going to get the casting numbers off soon

Don't worry too much about the dates. All you care about is that it's a 350.

Re: need help identify casting date on current block.

8 would mean 2008

It's possible that number sequence isn't a production number but a replacement engine number. If so then the year code means nothing.
