Can you drill 083's for use with pre-86 intakes?

Can you re-drill the two center holes so that they are "straight" so you can use them with earlier intakes like the Holley 300-36?

Only if you filled the existing holes first.

It would be easier to modify the intake manifold bolt holes.

Why not elongate the intake holes instead?

Just grind out the top of the 4 center bolt holes untill they are a long sausage shape. There are also wedge shaped washers you will probably need for this to work, so that the bolts clamp down the intake properly. I don't know who makes them though.
