help!! 86 iroc tpi w/ 350

hi all, i got a 86 tpi iroc, i put a 350 in it about 2 years ago. everything was fine untill i let i sit for a year. now it wont start. i put in a new fuel pump, fuel pump relay and fuel filter, i also put in new gas..it cranks and cranks but doesnt run. if i spray starting fluid it runs for about 2 seconds, i pulled some plugs and they are dry, i released pressure in shrader valve and no gas came out. i have also replaced the plastic thing on fuel pump w/ high pressure hose-(i forgot the name of the thing-i read gm used it to quiet down fuel pump.)im soooo lost and frustrated. any suggestions??? or any good mechanics live in san diego area-i will gladly pay you to get it running. thanks.

Re: help!! 86 iroc tpi w/ 350

When you turn your ignition to the run position, before trying to start, do you hear the fuel pump kick on?

If the answer is yes, then the next 2 questions are.
1) When is the last time you changed that inline fuel filter that is under the car near the back.

2) If you don’t have a pressure tester get one, then test the pressure in the fuel rails.

Sounds like the problem is definitely fuel related.

Re: help!! 86 iroc tpi w/ 350

thanks for replying-i was loosing hope. i already changed fuel filter and fuel relay. and no i can not hear the pump turn on-it silent - when i bought the pump the napa computer suggests changing pump wiring harness when you do the pump. i bought the fuel pump wiring harness but did not understand how to wire it. also is it possible to run a hot wire frombattery to pump and to see if it turns on that way?? thanks! any info will help.

also, there is a fuse by the battery that goes to the ecm. it also powers the fuel pump. check it. if it is bad, it will crank all you want but not put fuel to the motor.
