hey guys, i am removing my steering column to send it out to get it rebuilt. i found this guy in fla who will recondition sand blast and paint it. the trouble is the cable attached to the steering column i dont know what it is, or how to get it disconected, any ideas i need to get it out as soon as possible. by the way it is an 88 gta digital dash L98 auto and it has the resistor in the key

It goes down to the shifter handle (automatic trans).
Did you ever notice you can't take the shifter out of park unless the key was on?
That's what it does.
