Synthetic Oil VS low zinc
With all the talk of poor oil quality recently as mandated by the smog police does synthetic oil become a better option than mineral oil?

Huh?
No, synthetic has even less zinc.
The only reason you need zinc in your oil at all is for flat tappet cams. Get a zinc additive and use it with whatever oil you choose.

If you're worried about zinc content, use Rotella. It has a very high zinc content since it is targeted at diesel engines.

Re: Synthetic Oil VS low zinc
I had been wondering if a synthetic oil had any properties that would allow it to perform better than low zinc mineral oil for a flat tappet engine.
BTW Thanks bjankuski and MN246 for the Rotella recommendation.
