Noisy fuel pump, now stalling

I've only had this car(88 T/A 305 TPI) for about 6 months and the fuel pump has always been loud. I'm told that 3rd gens have loud pumps. I've had many FI cars(other than 3rd gens) and the pumps were always quiet.
Problem I just started having is after driving about 30 minutes or so the pump will shut off and car will stall. I'm able to fire it right back up and drive for a few more minutes only to do the same. Any suggestions? Pump going out?

That happened with my mechanical fuel pump, it would "overheat" and get tired and wouldn't pump the gas any more. If we waited like 10 mins it ran fine again. We had it replaced and no problems since, I bet it's the same thing for yours.
