Forward slack in the throttle cable. Normal?

On my throttle cable, I can pull the cable towards the front of the car by about 1/2" beyond the closed position of the blades in the body. Is this normal?

PS- It's a big block TBI unit on a 350.

Nothing to worry about, the cable strethes with time. If you want the slack out, the best way would be to replace it, but it's not needed.
