balancer timing reading
balancer timing reading
Hi ALL,
What should be the timing reading on the 3 different generations of dampers from GM production ? I think one is pre 69 models , then 69-84 and then 84 and after . I know those 3 generations have the TDC located at different places and I'm reading 52 degrees initial on what should be set at 16 ... at idle and I'm pretty sure my 350 chevy from 1975 has a damper from post 84 . he damper is a 8"
Thank you all!

Re: balancer timing reading
They'll all read the same when they're each used with the correct timing comb.
Re: balancer timing reading
right but on my case I have a 350 chevy 1975 with probably a post 84 damper so that's why I need to figure out how many degrees I have to read off to get the real one...The timing tab is about at 1pm-1.30 pm facing the engine and I think the 305 LG4 FROM 1985 from where the damper is out had the tab on top middle.

Re: balancer timing reading
Use a piston stop and make a new TDC mark on the balancer. It'll be more accurate anyway.
