Need Power Steering Help...
Ok, So as I have been trying to clean up my engine compartment I noticed that the power steering line runs a big circle underneath where the radiator sits. What is the reason for this? I am sure GM has its reasons, but if it is possible to eliminate that while keeping power steering, that is the route I would like to go. I plan on getting/ bending all new lines so I would be capable of shortening/ deleting them.
Also, there is a wire that plugs into what looks like a sensor for power steering... what is the reason for this? I am running a carbed motor with my own guages so I have a feeling I dont need this but want to make sure.
Thanks,
Dennis
Another side note question so i dont need to make a new thread, there is also a wire going to my proportioning valve on my brakes, what is this wire for? THanks

the wire is the brake warning indicator, should a catastrophic event occur such as a brake line being severed, a helpful light will be illuminated on the dash to divert your attention from the road

Re: Need Power Steering Help...
he said the wire in the steering line
when i removed most of the under hood wiring in my car i seem to remember that sensor being in parallel with the fan switch, so if the PS fluid gets too hot the fn turns on. I could be wrong. though its definatly not brakes related.
as for the loop in the PS line, thats the "cooler" without it the PS fluid would boil and make a real mess.
I removed my PS system and used a racing setup made by Southwest speed, KRC make a similar kit.
As for hose i used russel powerflex stainless braided hose/fittiongs and used a real finned cooler instead of that loop.

sorry, no pic of the cooler

Re: Need Power Steering Help...
I did ask about that at the end, thanks... I will be getting rid of that wire and getting rid of the power steering wire since I will be running the fans at all times. I just bought a March Pulley setup, so i dont think I will be getting that power steering setup you have, but it sure does look nice. I will try and make my lines look good when I redo them.
