Lifter guide plate

Lifter guide plate

Hello all, need some advice. I am building a 89' l98, i will be using a non roller cam and lifters do i need to use the lifter guide plate?

no, the plates are not necessary as flat tappet lifters are designed to rotate in their bores. just curious, why go away from roller?
