Cooling issues

--Bah, my apologies, put this in the wrong topic without realizing it.

Anyway, I think I'm going to try filling it with warm-water so as not to shock the radiator too bad when it's at temp and the level drops to see what happens.

Hey guys,

I'm having cooling issues when I'm on the highway in my 84 T/A with a fresh 350 that I just put in. It runs fine around town but heats up to a steady 248* at crusing speed (70mph) and redlines if I shift down and rev to 3-4000 rpm's. Anyway, pulled the radiator cap and started the car thinking I might have an air bubble, well, once the radiator opened my fluid level which sat even with the mouth of the cap dropped to where I couldn't see it in the radiator anymore. If I shut the motor down and let if cooloff the fluid level comes back into the radiator and sits even with the mouth of the cap. Sounds like classic "air bubble in system"?

I have done this 2-3 times and each time I think the fluid level has dropped. Can I go ahead and add fluid directly to the radiator at this point? Iknow it's not as hot as the fluid in the radiator but when I added it to the overflow it didn't suck any of the fluid in after I had the cap back on.

The last time today I closed the cap and filled the overflow. When the car warmed up the overflow never emptied or filled...it just stayed the same level. now, there is a slight crimp in the hose where it gets squished by an a/c line (something I am probably going to have to fix), but shouldn't that level have changed at least a little bit?

Any thoughts or ideas would be greatly appreciated!
