perormance gear

g, day i am wondering what the best place to get performance parts for my l-98 motor is . such as stroker kits, heads, and injection set ups. id like to take the motor out to 383 cubes and retain the original tpi if possible id like to make 400 to 500 n/a horsepower and for the motor to be streetable is this possible while retaining the original injection??? i would also be looking at possibly supercharging the motor in the future running again only a small amout of boost what other mods would i need to make ( drivline) to achive this the car is a 88 gta trans am

are far as internals and stroker kits, i havent heard anything bad about scat. its not so much a question of brand, but quality and material. you are going to need everything forged for sure if you are thinking about that power level.

400-500 at the flywheel or rear wheels?

400 at the flywheel is likely feasable after beefing up the TPI, but in my opinion TPI is a poor injection setup for high powered engines. for the most part (remember that there are always variables) the TPI system likes to fall on its face at higher RPM's.

in order for us all to help you we need to know some more information.

what is your budget for the engine?
as stated above are you talking RWHP or FWHP?
daily driver? weekend warrior? track only?

you (being yourself) need to make a decision before you get too deep into the engine of whether or not you are going to strap a blower on. if you are going to s/c it, you will want to keep static compression alot lower if you want pump gas.

and as far as the driveline, i am assuming that it is an auto 700R4, you will need a stall (depending on desired cam), you may potentially need to build it up. as far as the rear, if i were you i would put a 9" in, and not worry about it, but that kind of power might tear through her relatively quickly depending on driving habits.

i know that alot of people have had good luck with the AFR 195cc Eliminator heads (you could always go bigger). as far as cam and intake manifold you need to make some more choices about your future setup. if it is going to be blown, you will need a blower cam. you also need to figure your remote desired powerband... ex. 3000-7000, lower or higher on either end?. are you going to go solid roller? hydrolic roller? etc.

you also need to do all supporting mods, exhaust headers and all the way back. make sure your headers have 1 3/4" primaries, 3" all the way back including catback. if you dont have emissions, dont run a can.

i would build it N/A and consider using nitrous and throw out the blower idea, but that is just my opinion.

as far as aftermarket fuel injection goes, it is really pricey and probably wouldnt be worth it for your application and is also relatively complicated. if it were me, i would throw a carb on there.

if you are building the whole car, i would go from the back forward. rear and tranny, built first, then start working on the engine.
