HI, i have a 89 5.7 iroc and it is making a ticking noise. The noise dose not sound like a spun bearing but i checked that first, ripped apart two filters to find no metal bits. I then preceded to replace all my lifters and push rods to find that the noise still came back. has anyone come across this problem before help would be great

You're sure it's not the injectors? My new SVO injectors make a normal ticking noise where the junk Multecs were pretty silent. Also, a ticking noise can come from various items attached to the belt. I think my compressor made a ticking noise before it went bad. I know the smog pump makes an awful racket when it dies. The alternator and power steering pump on previous cars have made a ticking noise when the bearings were going south.
