383 short block crate engine?
so now that i am done with body work for now i would like to start looking into performance. I know heads and cams are a normal spot to start but what about just replaceing the block with a 383 crate short block. would i see a lot of hp gain or whould it be a waste of time to put old: head, cam, fuel system, ignition and air induction on a new rotating assembly? i looked on summit and the cost would be about $2000!

Re: 383 short block crate engine?
it will make much more torque and make similar hp at a lower rpmas a L98. probly peak by 3800-4000 rpms if that. Car will be a diesel truck basically, not much fun
a 383 will want new heads/new intake/new cam but ppl have done the 383 with stock TPI/stock heads. Results were not that great as expected
