any one use synthetic instead of reguler motoroil
sorry if this seems lazy but i didnt feel like searching 1000s of pages to see if some one else rote this and the search feature on this site isnt that good in my opinion. any ways i want to run castrol syntec in my 92 305 tbi firebird w/ 128k miles on it. i put it in my old neon and it ran much smoother in the revs and i just would like to know if it would be a good or bad thing to do.

i have used it in all of the vehilcles i have ever had. i have switched one or two of them over after being ran on conventional and have had no leaks/issues/whatsoever.

I wouldn't waste your money on synthetic for an old stock 305 TBI motor. It probably will leak, and you can do other permanent performance mods for the cost of a couple of synthetic oil changes. FWIW, I ran synthetic in my stock 100k mile+ L69 (one time), and it leaked alot.

Its definetly better for protection and it really doesnt brake down like a mineral based oil. the only problem is mineral based oils(regular) leave a waxy residue on seals and the synthetic oil will eventually clean off that residue and you may get leaks but Id rather leak a little oil and have better protection than the reverse of that. I use Mobile 1 in the TA and Pennzoil syn in my Audi.

I'm sorry, but this topic is so beat to death so often and always ends up in a flame war, so get over your admitted laziness and
